Tutorial 2nd. April 2012

Tutorial.

Tonight we started with a quick discussion about preparing for the OSCE.
There is advice about this on the website: http://www.drcog-mrcog.info/MRCOG%20how%20to%20pass_first_time.htm#OSCE%20skills.
There is also stuff about CNST, complaint procedures etc. that are difficult to find in the textbooks:
http://www.drcog-mrcog.info/Topics%20not%20in%20the%20textbooks.htm.

We started with a viva on screening for Down's syndrome. This illustrated how difficult it is to be organised in our thinking and presentation.
Mind you, it probably did not help that I kept switching it from viva to roleplay!
Then we had a viva on heavy menstrual bleeding.

The next session will be on Thursday.
If you are sitting the OSCE you need to decide on the techniques you are going to use and then practise them over and over.
If you try to explain risk, inheritance etc. for the first time in the exam, you are sure to fail.
As tonight's tutorial, this is difficult stuff, even for the very bright people attending the tutorials.
